Do you enjoy the challenge of steep cycling ascents? Crave altitude? And enjoy the rush of breathtaking scenery racing by as you accelerate down off the mountain? The incredible geography of the Dolomites provides just this: a high density of mountain passes within a relatively small area, affording steep ascents and descents. During this incredible week you will ascend Tre Croci (1,805m / 5,920'), Giau (2,230m / 7,316'), Gardena (2,137m / 7,011'), Sella (2,240m / 7,349'), Pordoi (2,242m / 7,356') and Falzarego (2,105m / 6,906').
But there’s more! Enjoy hearty meals that are representative of the incredible diversity of this region, the South Tyrol. Experience the three different cultures that define the region – German, Italian, and Ladin. Explore the charming Italian town of Cortina d’Ampezzo and the traditional Ladin valley town of Alta Badia.

ITINERARY

Day 1 ~ Arrive in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Dolomites
Arrive on your own to Cortina d'Ampezzo (private transfers on request) and check into your hotel. Meet a Dolomite Mountains representative for a trip briefing and equipment check, and take a short warm up bike ride around Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Day 2 ~ Tre Cime di Lavaredo & Monte Cristallo Loop
A wonderful way to appreciate the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in summer is by biking a loop around these mountains, during which their usual shapes mutate from sharp points to soft corners, the three sections of the mountain apparently merging into one. Depart from Cortina d’Ampezzo and bike on the road up to Misurina passing by Tre Croci Pass and Misurina Lake. Ascend to Rifugio Auronzo and bike back to lake Misurina and circumnavigate the mighty Mount Cristallo. Descend to Cortina d’Ampezzo, crossing the Cimabanche Pass

Day 3 ~ Cortina – Passo Giau – Passo Falzarego - Cortina
From Cortina d’Ampezzo, ascend to Passo Giau (2,230m / 7,316') biking under the flanks of Croda da Lago Massif and then descend to Colle Santa Lucia (1,599m / 5,246'). From here, ascend again to Passo Falzarego. En route you’ll pass by the Andraz Castle. Reach the Lagazuoi Pass (2,105m / 6,906') situated right below Mount Lagazuoi. Enjoy a last descent along the impressive flanks of the Tofane Mountains down to Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Day 4 ~ Cortina d'Ampezzo – Dobbiaco – Brunico – La Val – San Martino in Badia – San Cassiano
From Cortina d’Ampezzo, along the old railway line towards Dobbiaco. The historic Cortina-Dobbiaco railway operated up until 1962 when bus transportation took over; The route has since become popular with cross-country skiers and mountain bikers. At Brunico (873m / 2,864') you enter the Alta Badia valley, passing by the villages of San Martino in Badia and Pederoa. Finally, you reach the cozy village in Alta Badia.

Day 5 ~ The Sellaronda
Today is a big day: You will bike a portion of the famous Sellaronda, a route that comprises the four passes around the Sella Massif. Depart from San Cassiano and cycle up the Gardena Pass (2,137m / 7,011'). From here, descend until the road leads you up again to the Sella Pass (2,240m / 7,349'), from where you head down to the Fassa Valley. Ascend the famous Pordoi Pass (2,242m / 7,356'), often the highest point of the Giro d’Italia, and famous for its 33 hairpin turns. Descend to Arabba in the Livinallongo Valley, followed by your final ascent for the day, up to the Falzarego Pass (2,105m / 6,906') situated right beneath the Rifugio Lagazuoi. Enjoy your last descent to San Cassiano.
