Trip Overview

Explore Sardinia from sea to mountain! Hike along the Wild Blue coast trail, with its undeveloped paths and secluded beaches; travel deep into the Supramonte Massif, exploring hidden canyons and villages; while you discover one of the last wilderness sanctuaries on the entire Mediterranean Sea!

Sardinia offers a wealth of experiences just waiting to be discovered. White cliffs rise 800 meters (2,625') high out of the crystal clear blue waters of the Golfo di Orosei, one of the most dramatic coastlines of the Mediterranean. The landscape of the wonderful Supramonte Mountains are home to one of the deepest gorges in all of Europe. Thousands of mysterious Nuraghe villages and towers, scattered over this island, tell us of ancient times and ancient cultures that once ruled Sardinia. Sardinia’s east coast and interior are one of the last wilderness sanctuaries on the entire Mediterranean Sea.

On this wonderful itinerary, you’ll explore southeastern Sardinia, both along the coast, and high up in the mountains.  Hike to the Pedra Longa needle, which protrudes 120 meters (394') from the sea, and explore the white sand beach at Cala Goloritzé, with its clear green waters. And hike a portion of the Selvaggio Blu – the Wild Blue – where few visitors know about the route, making it one of Sardinia's few undeveloped pockets. Unexplored beaches, hidden between vast cliffs of limestone in fantastic shades of purple, grey, and black lie waiting to be discovered. You’ll even spend a night on board of a private boat, sleeping under the stars or indoors, and listening as the water lulls you to sleep, lapping against the shore.
On the last two days, you’ll hike into the heart of the Supramonte, a rugged and rough mountain area, where still many secrets are concealed. Narrow footpaths lead you to the Su Gologone, a well that constantly pours out great amounts of crystal clear water; enjoy kayaking on the Cedrino river and hike high up to Monte Tiscali, where you will find the ancient hidden city of the Nuraghe people.

About Dolomite Mountains Trips in Sardinia

From sandy shorelines eroded by the intense blue waters of the Mediterranean to peaks and colorful landscapes in its interior, Sardinia is perfect for active and leisure vacations alike! The largest of the Italian islands, and the second largest of the Mediterranean, Sardinia offers hikers coastal trails and mountain tracks alike! The unique combination of beautiful coastline, pleasant climate, rich history, and diverse culture make Sardinia ripe for adventure. Its coasts are lined with white sand beaches, towering limestone cliffs in fantastic shades of purple, gray, and black, and caves full of stalactites and stalagmites, surrounded by the blue-green waters of the Sardinian sea.

Away from the shore is a harshly beautiful, wild landscape, characterized by mountain chains, forests, plateaus, and rivers. And everywhere on Sardinia, there are traces of human settlements, ancient and rich in history and legends, dating as far back as the Neolithic Age. And did we mention the food!?  Not surprisingly, seafood features prominently in Sardinian cuisine, as does wild boar, stews, and unusual pasta waiting to be discovered. Exploring the island never ceases to be extraordinary. What are you waiting for?
