Arrive in Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) and meet your driver. Take a private transfer to your hotel for the next three nights in Oliena (1.5 hour transfer, 130km / 78 miles). Oliena is a quaint, old town filled with cobbled streets and ancient houses that seem to rest atop one another. The historic center is very characteristic of the region, with narrow winding roads and white houses with little courtyards, external stairways, pergolas, and small balconies. The Oliena area is one of the most renowned producers of extra virgin olive oil in Sardinia, as well of red Cannonau wine. Ancient olive trees and vineyards cling to the slopes of the mountainous Supramonte area, where the air is also fragrant with myrtle and rosemary.

This area is considered a paradise for all those who love trekking, wild flora, and fauna. Once inland, you will hike to the Tiscali Village. Nestled in a valley atop Mount Tiscali (518m / 1,699'), it is considered one of the wonders of Sardinian archaeology. Thought to have been built and inhabited between the 15th and 8th centuries BC, the village is set on the top of Mount Tiscali, in a huge hollow that was created by the collapse of a cave. 40 Nuraghic huts lie within. The village was entirely built along the walls of the hollow, so that it's impossible to see it if you do not penetrate inside. Some archaeologists think Tiscali must have been an untraceable shelter during the period of Carthaginian invasions. (3-4 hours hiking, 4km / 2.5 miles, 100m / 328'elevation change.)

Today begins with a private transfer to Siana on the Supramonte plateau. In the mountains of the Supramonte, surrounded by thick forests and wonderful oleander, lies not only Italy’s, but one of Europe’s most imposing natural abysses – the Gorropu Gorge. Gola di Gorropu is one of Europe's deepest gorges, with magnificent white and ochre walls over 350 meters (984') high.  Hike down to the gorge on the challenging Gorroppu Trail, and explore this magnificent landscape: The bottom of the gorge is filled with white rocks and boulders of all shapes and sizes, smoothed and rounded by the waters of the Flumineddu River. The interior of the gorge has the feeling of a giant cathedral, with walls arching up towards the sky, and sunlight light filtering between the clefts, continuously moving throughout the day. Water remains in idyll pools after the rains, hidden caves beckon you to explore, and fern grottos dripping with moss take you by surprise with water droplets that strike you from above. (5 hours hiking – 1.5-2 hours downhill and 2.5-3 hours uphill, 8km / 4.5 miles, 650m / 2,133'elevation change. Easier hiking option available.)
