OVERVIEW

The imposing peaks of the Dolomite Mountains provide extraordinary terrain for skiing and snowboarding. Boasting the number one ski resort in the world, and a past Winter Olympics site to boot, the Dolomites are a winter sports paradise for families, beginners, and champions alike. Plus, the sun shines an unparalleled 8 days out of 10 in the sunny winter paradise of the Dolomites – more than any other range in the Alps!
On this incredible Ski Safari, you’ll explore a wide variety of the finest ski resorts of the Dolomiti Superski. You’ll have 5 full days of skiing to get to know these mountains well. And one of the beauties of skiing in the Dolomites is that you can ski from resort to resort, returning to a base camp hotel, or moving from rifugio-to-rifugio each night. And, on this exciting ski safari, you’ll do both, sharing once-a-lifetime experiences with like-minded women!
Each evening you’ll experience the welcoming atmosphere of a hotel or a rifugio  – an alpine mountain inn set high atop the mountains with excellent views – and savor the excellent culture and cuisine unique to the region. Crossing from region to region – the South Tyrol, Badia, and Cortina – your taste buds will enjoy the unique combination of flavours resulting from the disparate Italian, Austrian, and Ladin cultures found in these valleys.
With lift-service pistes to help you move from resort to resort, and this much terrain, you may never ski the same run twice!

Day by Day

If you love full days of skiing at a variety of resorts and on different terrain each day, this is the trip for you! Ski safari hut-to-hut through the Dolomites, leveraging lift-service pistes so you can focus on your downhill turns.

Day 1 ~ Arrive in Alta Badia, Dolomites
Arrive in San Cassiano - Alta Badia on your own and check into your hotel (private transfer on request).
Alta Badia is located between 1,400 and 2,700 meters (4,593-8,858’) above sea level – an altitude that ensures optimal ski conditions throughout the winter, and offers breath-taking views of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites. Fast and comfortable ski lift connections, miles of wide, well-groomed slopes (130km / 81 miles), and the spaciousness of the ski area allow you to enjoy pleasant and safe skiing days. Charming mountain huts and first class mountain restaurants round out the appeal of Alta Badia, making it a ski area for connoisseurs.

In the afternoon meet with Agustina Lagos Marmol, Dolomite Mountains' owner & founder who will provide you a trip briefing and orientation as well as maps and the Skipass for guided ski safari. Enjoy a ladies' aperitif before dinner.

Day 2 ~ Warm up day in Alta Badia
After breakfast, you’ll meet your local English speaking UIAGM/IFMGA ski guide for a trip briefing and rent any equipment if needed (not included). You will also receive your Dolomiti SuperSkipass and 1 duffel bag per room. Pack your duffel bags with your belongins needed for the nights at Rifugios. The main luggage will be transferred to your hotel in Cortina, and the duffel bags to each rifugio daily.

The Alta Badia ski resort is just one of the 12 in the Dolomiti Superski. Here you will find 130 kilometers (81 miles) of prepared pistes, serviced by more than 50 modern ski lifts. Its centrally located position in the Dolomiti Superski also provides access to the
runs around the Sella Massif, and makes it the perfect starting point for some of the most beautiful ski tours in the Alps: the Sellaronda, the Great War Tour, and the route to the Marmolada Glacier. Early afternoon option to stop for shopping in the quaint village of Corvara and return by transfer to your hotel to relax before dinner. At 6pm join an informative and delicious wine tasting in the wine cellar of your hotel, followed by a fondue dinner.

Day 3 ~ Ski a portion of Sellaronda circuit
Alta Badia is the perfect starting point for the Sellaronda ski tour. This fantastic tour circumnavigates the Sella Massif, and is one of the most spectacular ski tours of the world. Considered somewhat of a “merrygo-round” for intermediate level skiers, this unique circular connection of lifts and runs was once the only way the ancient inhabitants of the Ladin villages could maintain a connection with each other. Nowadays it’s a modern day carousel that connects four Dolomite passes, four Ladin valleys (Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba), and three districts – you’ll have the opportunity to see more of the Dolomites in one day than many see on an entire trip! Today you will be traveling counter-clockwise across Alta Badia, Val Gardena and Val di Fassa. Explore the slopes in Val Di Fassa and take a private transfer to Passo San Pellegrino, where a snowcat will pick you up on the
pass and bring you to your rifugio (1,980m / 6,496’) for the night.
Set in a magnificent group of isolated old huts, this rifugio is immersed in the marvelous silence of a wide valley with a view of the Pale di San Martino. You will get to taste delicious dishes typical of the Trentino region. The renowned and traditional restaurant, mentioned in several culinary guides, will be appreciated not only for the quality of the food, but also for its warmth and welcoming hospitality.

Day 4 ~ San Pellegrino & Civetta Ski Areas
Today may well be the visual highlight of our skiing this week, with anticipated emotional responses to some of the most stunning views of the Veneto and Trentino Dolomites: the group of the Pale di San Martino, Monzoni, Catinaccio, and Marmolada. You will have the chance to ski on the relaxed slopes in the sun as well as the more challenging ones in the shade of the gondola of Col Margherita, to ski down to Passo San Pellegrino, and over to the opposite face towards Cima Uomo. From here you will ski to the settlement of Fedare, from where you’ll transfer to Alleghe. In Alleghe take the cable car “Piani di Pezzé” and reach the Civetta ski area. Surrounded by plenty of uncontaminated views and majestic peaks, the valleys of Alleghe, Selva di Cadore, Zoldo, and Palafavera of Monte Civetta are rich in history and tradition. This area became famous during the 19th century, during the final century of the Venetian Doges, when the first winter guests discovered the imposing beauty and timeless charm of Monte Civetta and in particular Monte Pelmo – known as “God’s Throne.” In the afternoon ski down to Pescul and take a private transfer to Passo Giau and check in your rifugio for the night.
B,DRifugio

Day 5 ~Cinque Torri and Cortina ski area
Thanks to their infinite variety of shapes and sizes, the marvellous Cinque Torri ideally represent the entire Dolomites. Although the towers can be admired from the center of Cortina, don’t be deceived by their unmistakable silhouette: the characteristic profile isn’t comprised of just 5 towers, but by a mass of secondary boulders, fractured towers and peaks sprinkled liberally across the entire area. These peaks are located to the west of Cortina on a grassy hillock just above the tree line at circa 2,200m / 7,218’. In Winter the ski slopes of the Lagazuoi 5 Torri Giau area are always perfect, thanks to the favourable exposure and to the use of artificial snow programmes when necessary.

The slopes are easy or moderate, and all are immensely satisfying. Facing the Lagazuoi Massif, the Gallina Ridge is a paradise for skiers. Take a private transfer to Cortina where you may wish to spend time in your hotel’ SPA, or explore the many shops in Cortina’s Corso d’Italia, a pedestrian walkstreet at the center of the historic center.
Dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 6 ~ Depart
Breakfast and departure on your own (private transfer on request).

Want to learn more about our Mountain Inns & Rifugi?
Rifugi – or mountain huts in English – are the classic accommodation for hikers, climbers, mountaineers, and ski mountaineers in the Alps. Set in spectacular locations high in the Dolomites, rifugi are accessible only on foot (with a few exceptions that are reachable by car). These marvelous establishments are open primarily in the summer, with a select few in winter, and offer meals and sleeping facilities.

The Dolomite rifugi are considered the best in the Alps. While some are dormitory style with bunk beds, many meet the standard of a simple guest house with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms, and each has its own unique character and charm. Bedding and linens are provided, hot showers are available, and meals are served in common dining areas – like a small mountain inn set high in the mountains with the most incredible vistas in the Dolomites. Whether you’re hiking in summer or skiing in winter, an overnight rifugio stay is not to miss on a Dolomite holiday.

To learn even more about rifugi in the Dolomites, check out our Rifugios in the Dolomites article, and learn about one of the best ways to experience these incredible mountains!
