Explore Gourmet Cuisine in the Dolomites – “A Taste for Skiing”
The Dolomites happen to be home to some of the most world-class dining experiences in the world. Head out on a gastronomical tour of this beautiful mountain region as you dine on Michelin-star rated dishes prepared with the finest local ingredients by world-famous chefs. Several area mountain huts join together to participate in preparing special menus that were created by Dolomitici and European Michelin-starred chefs and feature the best of South Tyrol’s produce and other delectable ingredients.

Take a Sledge Ride, or Better Yet, a Moon Light Sledge Ride
For those who are a little less coordinated on the slopes, or who prefer sitting on the way down, an exhilarating sledge or toboggan ride is always a great option. Children and adults alike can experience the magnificent mountain terrain and breathtaking views as they slide down the slopes aboard a toboggan. For adults who are looking for something really unique to do, there’s also a moon light sledge ride, which brings you from rifugi to rifugi by motorized sledge, after which a delicious feast is served. After dinner, enjoy an invigorating descent down the valley with only the light of your headlamp and the bright moonlight. It’s a truly unforgettable experience!

Stargaze at the L’OSSERVATORIO ASTRONOMICO DEL COL DRUSCIE’ “HELMUT ULLRICH”
What better place to take in the sights of the starry night sky than from high atop one of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges. L’ astronomical observatory with the Drusciè “Helmut Ullrich” is situated in Cortina d’ Ampezzo, in the heart of the Dolomites, at an altitude of 1,780 m. Winter is by far the best time of year to enjoy the observatory, when skies are crisp and clear and refreshingly unpolluted. The observatory features two domes, including a Newton telescope and a Schmidt Cassegrain Celestron 11″, perfect for capturing the wonders of the night sky. You haven’t seen the galaxies until you’ve seen them from atop the Dolomites.

Watch or Go Bobsledding
There are plenty of options in the Dolomites for those who enjoy bobsledding, either as a participant or a spectator. Those who prefer to watch this exhilarating sport can visit the Eugenio Monti Bobsleigh and Skeleton Track to observe the racers in action. This track was actually raced on during the Olympics of 1956 and was even featured in a James Bond movie. Those who are a little more daring and would like to try their hand at hitting the tracks can go to the Cortina Adrenaline Center. Two passengers at a time can zoom down the icy track in a real bobsled.

Visit the Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio – the Olympic Ice Stadium in Cortina d’Ampezzo to Ice Skate or Ice Boulder or Watch an Event
Traditional ice skating is quite popular in the Dolomites, for both participants and those who prefer to observe. The Olympic Ice Stadium, located in Cortina d’Ampezzo, is open to the public for skating, ice hockey, national and international ice skating shows and competitions, short track and the unique sport known as curling. There’s also ice bouldering, an adventurous indoor climbing activity that’s similar to traditional rock climbing.

The Dolomite Mountains may be known for their world-class ski slopes, but there’s much more to this beautiful region – so much, in fact, that you’ll never be bored. Winter in the Dolomites is sure to be jam-packed with fun, exciting and unforgettable activities. Come on over and experience them for yourself!
