Why not hit the slopes as a family and create lasting memories you’ll all cherish for many years to come? If you’re planning a trip to the Dolomites with the whole clan in tow, here are 5 of the best ski areas for children to try out their ski legs and learn new skills. Also check out our family ski safari in the Dolomites.

Alta Badia
The area of Alta Badia offers some of the best ski opportunities for skiers of all ages and skill levels – particularly children. Families can enjoy 130 km of freshly groomed slopes with an expertly designed artificial snow system to ensure that there’s always plenty of fresh powder to tackle. There’s also direct access to more than 500 km of additional slopes along the Dolomiti Superski area, and all of this set against a backdrop of awe-inspiring scenery that even your youngest offspring can appreciate.

Kronplatz
This mountain provides the best of both worlds to families with mixed skill levels. It offers 100 km of sun-kissed slopes, several of which are designed to challenge the sophisticated skier or snowboarder in your group, while others are more kid-friendly. The artificial snowmaking system ensures ample fresh powder and the specially designed “Kids’ Parks” provide the opportunity for little ones to get in on the fun. Kronplatz is also rich with dining choices, so be sure to bring your appetite, or work one up on the slopes!

Alpe di Siusi
If you’re a family looking for outdoor activities and fun, then you’ll find what you’re seeking at Alpe di Siusi. This area offers 60 km of wide slopes of varying grades of difficulty. The slopes here are very well prepared and maintained, and offer the chance for ski adventures to people of all ages and skill levels. For the family members who have a need for speed, there are 4 race tracks and 1 that is specifically labeled as “high-speed”.  For the more cautious or beginners in your party, there are easier grades available that are perfect for learning and honing their skills. Need a break from the slopes? Check out the “Fun Parks” in the area, complete with bouncy castles and more!

Val di Fassa
If ever there was a place in the Dolomites where children were the focus of attention, Val di Fassa is the destination of choice. In fact, it’s sometimes even referred to as a “corner of paradise for children”. Everywhere you turn there are special kid-friendly ski slopes, ski schools, snow parks, and even giant snowmen to entertain and delight the little ones. Even many of the area hotels get in on the action, offering special entertainment for kids, discounted menu items, and even babysitters to look after the younger ones while Mom and Dad enjoy a quiet dinner alone or some adult skiing.

Sextner Dolomiten / Alta Pusteria
Also known as the “Land of the Three Peaks”, this area of the Dolomites offers endless options when it comes to entertaining and keeping energetic kids busy. Aside from downhill skiing, guests staying in the Sextner Dolomiten / Alta Pusteria region can also participate in world-class cross country skiing, tobogganing, snowshoeing, ice skating and more. When you’re ready to move the adventure indoors, the whole family can relax and unwind with a swim in the indoor pools. Stay in a cozy mountain lodge and enjoy the spectacular surrounding scenery as you relax and unwind after a day of family fun, and dine on delectable treats together.

It’s never too early to start your kids on the right foot, or ski, as it were. These five Dolomites ski areas offer all of the kid-friendly skiing opportunities you could ever need so that everyone in your group can enjoy themselves. Come on down and make some unforgettable family memories your kids will cherish for the rest of their lives
