Day by Day

Day 1 ~ Arrive in Sardinia
Arrive in Cagliari Elmas International Airport (CAG) and meet your guide. Private transfer to your hotel in Barumini (40min transfer, 60km / 36 miles) and collect your bikes.
In the afternoon, discover the magnificence of Su Nuraxi di Barumini, included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites; this is a fine example of the over 7000 Nuraghe in Sardinia, evidence of a fascinating civilization dating back to 1500 BC. From here you’ll continue cycling on a long and beautiful climb that brings you in the middle of the biggest mountains of the island. The hotel has a wonderful setting in a chestnut wood, and is close to the village.

Day 2 ~ Gennargentu loop
Today is the “King of the Mountains” day! You’ll ride an epic loop around the highest peaks of Sardinia, through the woods of Barbagia Belvì and Seulo, the mountain pastures of Barbagia Ollollai. Ride across the “Tacchi” of Ogliastra, limestone plateaus with high cliffs, a unique landscape in Sardinia. You will be surprised by the wild beauty of nature, lush green valleys carved by the eroding rivers that -in the process- have created bizarre shapes on the rocks that can still be admired today.
(165km / 102 miles cycling, 4,000m / 13,123' elevation change.)

Day 3 ~ Mandrolisai Region
Today you will descend from the mountains of Gennargentu to reach the rolling hills of Mandrolisai, a wine growing region that to this day produces delicious wines such as Mandrolisai, Cannonau, Bovale Sardo e Monica, now exported across Italy and Europe.
After lunch you will continue to Marmilla, a rolling area covered with wheat fields, orchards  and olive groves, your journey today will take you to the Campidano plain located at the foot of the Monte Linas massif. Check into your hotel and enjoy some well deserved relaxation in the charming grounds of your hotel. (120km / 74 miles cycling, 1,500m / 4,921' elevation change.)

Day 4 ~ Costa Verde and old mines of Sardinia
You’ll begin this long day with an easy 30km/18,6 miles ride, perfect for a good warm-up. After the lagoon of Marceddì you’ll pass by the spectacular Costa Verde, Sardinia's south west coastline, renowned for its old mining villages, sandy dunes, dramatic cliffs and particularly high waves.
You will ride across Costa Verde to begin the uphill toward Montevecchio, a mountain village in the heart of the old mining industry, now the core of the Sardinian Geo-mining park, recently proclaimed a Unesco World Heritage Site.
You'll reach Arbus and begin a breathtaking downhill ride to Buggerru and Nebida, where you can admire the “Pan di Zucchero “ (sugar loaf), a white limestone rock that arises from the sea, visible from one of the best panoramic terraces of the west coast. Continue past the long sandy stretch of Funtanamare for your final climb of the day, that will take you through a thick forest of oaks trees that hide old, abandoned mining villages, full of secrets and fascinating stories.
(190km / 118 miles cycling, 3,500m / 11,483' elevation change.)
