Dolomites Alta Via Treks

Hiking Alta Via N.1 – Hotel Based

Trek sections of the legendary Alta Via 1 on an eight-day Dolomites hiking journey through the Sennes and Fanes plateaus, Lagazuoi, Cinque Torri, Pelmo, and the Civetta Massif. Enjoy hotel-based hiking with convenient trailhead transfers, luggage transport between hand-selected hotels, and authentic Alpine hospitality.

Trip Overview

Follow Alta Via 1, one of the Dolomites' most celebrated long-distance trails, beyond the northern plateaus into the landscapes of the Fanes Plateau, Lagazuoi, Croda da Lago, Pelmo, and Civetta, pairing unforgettable mountain days with the comfort of a hand-selected hotel each evening.

This eight-day hiking journey begins in Cortina d'Ampezzo and ends in Alleghe, following this legendary linear trek that travels the Dolomites from north to south. The landscape changes from open limestone plateaus and lush alpine pastures to picturesque lakes and quiet forest paths surrounded by the vast rock faces of the central Dolomites.
Your first hikes explore the Sennes and Fanes sections of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park. Trails lead through high meadows and weathered limestone, with daytime rifugio stops offering a chance to rest and take in the majestic surroundings. From Alta Badia, you'll ascend to Lagazuoi, where the dramatic views reveal the scale of the mountains you've been walking through. The restored WWI trenches and free-standing towers at Cinque Torri bring the human history of the landscape into focus.
Next, the journey takes you through Croda da Lago to Pelmo, where forest shade gives way to open scenery under the great north face. Your final day brings you into the Civetta massif, past Lake Coldai and beneath the mountain's west face. As you continue below the towers of Venezia and Trieste, you'll feel the changing scale of the landscape.
This hotel-based version offers an easy way to experience the Alta Via 1. Booking the rifugi can be a real challenge on these popular stages, where beds fill up many months ahead; here, we take care of it all, arranging your accommodation and transferring your luggage between hotels, so you hike each day with only your daypack and return each evening to a welcoming hotel, a restful night, and the flavors of the region's cuisine. The terrain is demanding, with sustained ascents and long descents, making those comfortable evenings all the more rewarding.
