Dolomites Alta Via Treks

Hiking Alta Via N.1 – Part I – Hotel Based

Trek the legendary first section of the Alta Via 1 on a six-day journey that takes you through the heart of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Reserve and the iconic Cinque Torri, all while enjoying the luxury of hand-selected hotels each night. It is the ultimate mountain escape for those seeking world-class hiking paired with exceptional hotels and authentic alpine hospitality in the Dolomites.

Trip Overview

The Alta Via 1 is celebrated as the "best of the best" for alpine trekking, and our hotel-based version of Part 1 allows you to experience this legendary route with a touch of luxury. Truly a hiker's paradise, your journey begins in the chic mountain resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo (1,224m / 4,016'), where you'll find yourself surrounded by the jagged pinnacles of the Ampezzo Dolomites. This linear trek travels from north to south, covering the most iconic landscapes of the Fanes Plateau and the Lagazuoi Massif.

Each day, you’ll set out into the wild, high-altitude world of the UNESCO Dolomites, traversing the sprawling karst fields of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Reserve (up to 2,752m / 9,029'). You’ll explore the atmospheric Galleria del Lagazuoi—a vertical museum of World War I tunnels—and hike through the "fairy tale" valleys of the Armentarola area. The final stage of your trip takes you to the stunning Cinque Torri (2,361m / 7,746'), where fractured limestone towers rise like organ pipes from the alpine meadows. Instead of sleeping in mountain huts, a private transfer will whisk you away at the end of each trail to your comfortable hotel in Alta Badia or Cortina. Here, you can unwind in a world-class spa before enjoying delicious gourmet meals inspired by Italian and Austrian classics.

This itinerary is ideal for those who crave the physical challenge and breathtaking vistas of a classic Haute Route but prefer the soft linens and fine dining of a boutique hotel. Ready to experience the Dolomites in style? Contact us today and book your Hotel-Based Alta Via 1 Part 1 adventure!
