Christmas & New Year's Ski Experience in the Dolomites

Arrive in your resort on your own (private transfer on request). Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Cortina d'Ampezzo, and Val di Fassa are located between 1,400 and 2,700 meters (4,593-8,858') above sea level, an altitude that ensures optimal ski conditions throughout the winter, as well as offers breath-taking views of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites! Fast and comfortable ski lift connections, miles of wide, well-groomed slopes, and the spaciousness of the ski area allow you to enjoy pleasant and safe skiing days. Charming mountain huts and first class mountain restaurants round out the appeal, making the Dolomites a ski area for connoisseurs.

In the afternoon, meet with a Dolomite Mountains representative for a trip briefing, orientation, maps, your Skipass and everything else necessary for your ski vacation.

If you are taking a guided trip, you will meet with your UIAGM/IFMGA Professional Ski Guide in the morning for a trip briefing, to receive your maps, Skipass, pick up ski equipment (if needed) and to start your guided day out on the slopes!

Today, you’ll begin by exploring the Dolomiti Superski Resort where your accommodation is located – Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Cortina d'Ampezzo, or Val di Fassa. In the coming days, you’ll continue your exploration, skiing some of the other 11 resorts in the Dolomiti Superski!

The Alta Badia ski resort, one of the 12 in the Dolomiti Superski, is set at an elevation that ranges between 1,400 to 2,700 meters above sea level (4,593' to 8,858'), ensuring optimal ski conditions throughout the winter. It is comprised of 130 kilometers (81 miles) of groomed pistes, serviced by more than 50 modern ski lifts, and has direct access to the world famous Sella Massif ski carousel and a strategic starting point to reach some of the most beautiful ski tours in the Alps.

In the morning, take a private transfer to Sesto/Sexten in the Val Pusteria. The Sesto Dolomites, the mountains towering above the valley, feature the Three Peaks Resort (Tre Cime / Drei Zinnen), the easternmost of the Dolomiti Superski areas. A real snow paradise awaits you here, with 115 kilometers (50.9 miles) of marvelous slopes and 31 lift facilities turning the breathtaking mountain world of the Alta Pusteria into a purely enjoyable experience for everybody.

While skiing is obviously the priority here, the natural wonders of the Alta Pusteria abound, and you’ll have fantastic vistas of magnificent Dolomite peaks as you ski, including Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the Meridiana di Sesto, or Sesto Sundial) – the largest natural sundial in the world.

En route back to your resort, visit the Christmas Market in Brunico. In winter, the town of Brunico is magically transformed from quaint ski village to a glistening holiday wonderland during the annual Christmas Market. The atmosphere is permeated by an air of romance and serenity as the charming little town prepares to celebrate the holidays. The wealth of items available to buy includes Christmas tree decorations, wooden toys, leather, glass and ceramic goods, fragrant mulled wine, culinary specialities and much, much more.
This isn’t just a place to buy and sell though; handicrafts and regional traditions take centre stage at the Christmas market.

The Ski Tour of “The Great War 1914-1918” is a spectacular route, suitable for everyone, winding around the bases of some of the most famous peaks in the Dolomites. The tour will take you underneath the faces of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites – Civetta, Pelmo, Nuvolau-Averau, Cinque Torri, Lagazuoi, and Marmolada. You’ll ski amidst a natural landscape so pristine, it’s hard to imagine that it was once the site of intense battles between the Italian, Austrian, and German troops during WWI. In between ski runs, let your experienced guide show you the long-forgotten ditches, tunnels and bunkers that once served as shelter for Italian and Austrian soldiers – a veritable open-air museum of WWI history.
Tonight, enjoy a gourmet dinner at one of the Michelin 1-star-rated restaurant in your area.

Today is a long day on the slopes, we recommend to set off early in the morning. Ski to the town of Arabba, take the Porta Vescovo cable car and continue through slopes and lifts to Malga Ciapela, where you'll find the first of the three cable cars taking you up to the Marmolada Glacier. Known as the “Queen of the Dolomites,” Marmolada (3,350m / 10,990') is the highest peak and the only glacier in these mountains. You will get our full share of stunning views all around you, including the Catinaccio, Sassolungo, Sella, and Gran Vernel.
The highest point of the ski area is Punta Rocca Station (3,265m / 10,712'), the starting point of one of the most beautiful ski runs of the Alps, and the longest run in the Dolomites: La Bellunese. This 12-kilometer (7.15-mile) piste features a 1,823-meter (5,981') vertical descent. It is a wide, consistent run, with few corners or changes in gradient, inviting you to find a rhythm and carve turns all the way down the mountain.
