Trip Overview

On this quick  getaway you’ll visit some of the most incredible areas in the Dolomites on foot – taking in more than you can imagine in just five days! We introduce you to the highlights of the Cortina d’Ampezzo area, with three incredible days of hiking from hut-to-hut in these fairy tale mountains.

Hike on and around massifs and spires, your perspective changing with every step. Travel across lunar landscapes, lush alpine meadows carpeted with wildflowers, and evergreen forests, all set between towering mountains with vertical walls.  Hike and explore restored WWI galleries as you hike to one of the highest rifugios in the Dolomites for lunch – with unparalleled 360-degree views! Stay near Cinque Torri (Five Towers), where legions of climbers have trained. You’ll also have free time to explore the refined town of Cortina d’Ampezzo itself! This chic Venetian village is full of high-end boutiques set along a pedestrian walk-street through the center of town.  Frequented by vacationing Italians, it is definitely a point of reference for the society set.

And, when you’re done hiking, enjoy two nights taking in the comfort of different rifugios or mountain inns, experiencing true Dolomite Mountains hospitality. You’ll be so amazed by the hearty and delicious cuisine you find here, you may never want to leave!

Want to learn more about our Mountain Inns & Rifugi?
Rifugi – or mountain huts in English – are the classic accommodation for hikers, climbers, mountaineers, and ski mountaineers in the Alps. Set in spectacular locations high in the Dolomites, rifugi are accessible only on foot (with a few exceptions that are reachable by car). These marvelous establishments are open primarily in the summer, with a select few in winter, and offer meals and sleeping facilities.

The Dolomite rifugi are considered the best in the Alps. While some are dormitory style with bunk beds, many meet the standard of a simple guest house with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms, and each has its own unique character and charm. Bedding and linens are provided, hot showers are available, and meals are served in common dining areas – like a small mountain inn set high in the mountains with the most incredible vistas in the Dolomites. Whether you’re hiking in summer or skiing in winter, an overnight rifugio stay is not to miss on a Dolomite holiday.
