Trip Overview

Embark on a unique cultural trek through the heart of the Dolomite Mountains, visiting the six renowned Messner Mountain Museums (MMM). Conceived by legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner, this network of museums explores the profound relationship between man and the mountains. You’ll visit MMM Firmian, housed in the majestic Sigmundskron Castle, and hike along ancient ‘Waalweg’ irrigation channels to reach MMM Juval, Messner’s private residence. The adventure takes you deep underground at MMM Ortles to discover the world of ice, and up to the stunning Zaha Hadid-designed MMM Corones on the summit of Kronplatz. Between museum visits, you’ll hike some of the region’s most scenic trails, including the Renon High Plateau and the Panoramaweg to San Vigilio. The journey ends with the new MMM Roca in Sesto, dedicated to the history of rock climbing. You’ll also get to wander through the pretty, cobbled streets of Bolzano, Brunico, and Cortina d’Ampezzo, learning about the diverse heritage of South Tyrol. We’re calling all mountain lovers and culture enthusiasts to explore the Dolomites top to bottom – touring and hiking through some of the most breathtaking mountain landscapes in the world. Join us on this journey into the soul of the Dolomite Mountains!
