Trip Overview

South Tyrol (Südtirol in German and Alto Adige in Italian), is surrounded by incredible Dolomite Mountain landscapes. You’ll find countless miles of trails that wind through beautiful valleys, across formidable passes, and open up to cobblestone villages. South Tyrol is truly Italy’s best-kept secret, and this itinerary showcases why.
You’ll begin your journey in the charming city of Bolzano with pretty piazzas, vibrant markets, boutique shops, and excellent restaurants surrounded by vineyard-covered hills and fertile apple orchards. You’ll take a breathtaking gondola ride up to Collalbo, located on the Renon / Ritten Plateau, perched above Bolzano, and hike a circuit to the fascinating Earth Pyramids and then refresh your palate with a delicious apple juice tasting at a renowned apple orchard. And that’s just the beginning!
After your Bolzano discovery, we’ll whisk you off in a private transfer where you’ll enjoy a day of wine and culinary tastings in the stunning village of Caldaro. Visit one of the oldest vineyards, a family business which has been passed down for generations, and then embark on a wonderful e-bike adventure along the famous South Tyrolean wine road, the Strada del Vino dell’Alto Adige / Südtiroler Weinstraße, surrounded by apple orchards, vineyards, and gentle hills.
Take a day of leisure exploring the beautiful city of Merano, with its renowned luxury Thermal Baths and the Trauttmansdorff Castle Botanical Gardens. Merano is romantic and refined, with lovely promenades along the river, and has fantastic shopping opportunities.
You’ll take a cable car up to the Salto High Plateau, which is among the most important mountain ranges around Merano. It boasts rich mountain flora, several hiking and biking trails with panoramic views across to the Dolomites and nearby ranges. Here, you can visit one of the many cozy, South Tyrolean mountain huts and indulge in an authentic, home-made lunch lovingly prepared and served with the warm, alpine hospitality South Tyrol is known for.
The grand finale is a decadent dinner at a 2-Michelin-star restaurant in Val Sarentino set on a lush green hillside overlooking the Dolomites.
So, if you’re looking for a gentle yet exceptional hiking and cycling journey through a breathtakingly beautiful and unique part of the Italian Dolomites, savoring world-class cuisine, sampling wines and apple juice straight from the source, and then indulging in handpicked luxury hotels, this is the journey for you!
