Trip Overview
Begin your trip along the South Tyrolean Wine Route, pedaling past vineyard-draped hills, apple orchards, and charming wine villages. Pause for tastings of local varietals like Gewürztraminer and Lagrein, and learn about the region’s rich wine-making traditions. Next, head into the mountains and discover the jewel-toned beauty of Lago di Carezza (Karersee), a pristine alpine lake that mirrors the dramatic peaks of the Rosengarten and Latemar ranges.
In the heart of the Dolomites, take on the Sellaronda—a cycling classic that loops around the imposing Sella Massif, climbing four celebrated mountain passes. Among them is the legendary Passo Pordoi (2,242m / 7,356’), one of the Giro d’Italia’s most iconic climbs, known for its 33 hairpin turns and staggering vistas.
Pedal through high alpine meadows and dramatic rock towers toward the northern reaches of the Dolomites, where you’ll enjoy a close-up view of the majestic Tre Cime di Lavaredo, one of the most recognized mountain formations in the world. Your ride continues through Alta Badia and Dobbiaco, discovering Val Pusteria and stopping in the historic city of Bressanone / Brixen, known for its cathedral square, Baroque architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. Saddle up and prepare for the biking adventure of a lifetime!
