A five-day guided snowshoeing getaway in Cortina d'Ampezzo designed for those who want to experience the quieter side of the Dolomites in winter. This itinerary combines daily snowshoe excursions and a memorable overnight stay in a traditional mountain rifugio, taking you from the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo to the frozen shores of Lake Federa.
Your winter adventure begins in Cortina, the elegant Alpine town framed by the peaks of the Ampezzo Dolomites. On your first day on the snow, a snowmobile will carry you up to the plateau beneath the dramatic north faces of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, where you'll strap on snowshoes and walk toward Forcella Lavaredo in winter forest silence before sledding back down to Lake Antorno, making a thrilling finish to your first day.
From there, the following day, you leave Cortina behind and snowshoe through snow-covered trails toward a lovely mountain hut nestled beneath the imposing Becco di Mezzodì. Along the way, you and your guide can track the footprints of deer, foxes, and mountain hares. Arriving at the rifugio, settle in for a traditional dinner and an evening beneath a star-filled sky before spending the night in the mountains.
Your next excursion takes you to the frozen shores of Lake Federa, framed by the silhouettes of Croda da Lago and Becco di Mezzodì, before descending through open forests to the valley floor and returning to Cortina for a final evening in town.
Throughout the journey, you'll be guided by a UIAGM / IFMGA-certified mountain professional who knows the terrain, the weather windows, and the best routes for the conditions.
