Trip Overview
The Via Ferrate here are pathways through time. Many follow WWI military positions, where Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers carved tunnels and strung cables across impossible faces. You'll traverse the same galleries they used on Monte Paterno, climb iron ladders bolted into historic towers, and walk exposed ledges where the mountain war unfolded at nearly 3,000m / 9,842’.
Highlights
- Climb classic via ferrata routes beneath the Tre Cime di Lavaredo's iconic north faces, combining iron ladders, exposed traverses, and sweeping alpine views
- Summit Monte Paterno at 2,744m / 9,003' via the legendary De Luca–Innerkofler Via Ferrata, with uninterrupted views of the Three Peaks
- Traverse WWI tunnels and historic military routes that reveal the Dolomites' remarkable wartime history
- Tackle the Sentiero degli Alpini, one of the longest and most panoramic equipped paths in the Sexten Dolomites
- Sleep two nights in rifugios for early starts and optimal access
- Enjoy two nights in a comfortable hotel in Sesto / Sexten
