Alta Via n. 1 Hiking Adventure in the Dolomites
Manuela,
Barbara and I had a great time. The weather was a little warmer than expected but all the accommodations transfers, food and preparation advice were excellent.
After comparing some stories with other hikers about different refugios it became apparent that not all are alike. In our case the food was always good and in a few cases excellent. Same for the rooms.
I believe the refugios that we liked the best were:
Passo Giau Great Room and great Food
Lavarella Had a great atmosphere wish we could have stayed an extra day for some side hikes
Fodara Vedla quaint and accommodating. Nice modern room
Passo Staulanza Also nice. A little confusing finding the trail from this refugio. Perhaps some more detailed description could be provided. The owner was kind enough to give us directions to follow the highway. Not clear on the map.
Our hotel in Cortina was nice and the food was good and just a short walk to town.
We are looking forward to another trip sometime to the area possibly for some skiing or ski touring.
Kathy and the group here in Colorado were a great help in preparing our expectations and planning our gear.
We will recommend your company and hope to use Dolomite Mountains again.
Thanks for a wonderful vacation.
Steve & Barbara
