You might’ve already heard about this town at the foot of Italy’s Dolomite Mountains from early promos for the Winter Olympics, with Cortina serving as one of the host cities (along with Milan) for the Games’ snowy, icy, adrenaline-filled action.
Or maybe you’ve seen shots of it and neighboring regions like Alta Badia in your Instagram feed. The past few years have seen a surge of tourists who’ve already ‘Grammed their way through Iceland and Portugal and Nicaragua—those once off-the-beaten-path destinations that are now well and truly beaten—and have collectively chosen the Dolomites and its fairy-tale mountainscapes as their next destination.
