Visit Cibiana Pass

Another lovely high mountain pass located in the southern Dolomites, the Cibiana Pass connects Val di Zoldo in the west with Val Boite to the east.  The road of the pass is quite narrow and presents a grade of approximately 15% but is still open for use year-round.  The area is rich with history and provides access to Monte Rite by way of an old road that was built during the First World War.  Old wartime fortifications can also still be seen on the mountain.

Visitors can enjoy a stop at the Dolomite branch of the Messner Mountain Museum, which was opened in 2002 by Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner.  Sometimes referred to as the "museum in the clouds", it offers a fascinating glimpse into history of the Dolomites.  In addition to traditional winter sports of the area, Cibiana Pass remains a favorite destination among cycling enthusiasts with fantastic riding opportunities and picture-perfect panoramas.
