Visit Duran Pass

Located in the Italian province of Belluno, Duran Pass, or Passo Duran, is as beautiful as it is unique. It is ideally situated between Zoldo Alto and La Valle Agordina and connects the areas of Agordo.  At the summit rests a tiny little church and a couple of restaurants, but perhaps what sets this particular pass apart is the challenge it poses to visitors.  In fact, the words “Once in a lifetime” are found painted on the road a few kilometers into the climb. They are believed to reference the difficulty of the trek, although nobody knows for sure what their exact origin or meaning truly is.

Climbers and bikers alike love the challenge that the Duran Pass poses, particularly in its descent. Unlike other area paths which are well-paved and smooth, this pass is markedly rough and quite narrow. The surrounding views make it well worth the effort, however.  You’ll want to pack your camera for this one.
