Saint Leonhard Horse Parade

Saint Leonhard Horse Parade

Saint Leonhard was one of the most well-known saints in central Europe, with more than 600 churches and chapels having been built in his honor. He is considered the patron saint of farmers and artisans as well as horses and horsemen.

Each year, at the beginning of November the Saint Leonhard Horse Parade, or “Leonardiritt”, takes place in Alta Badia, complete with live horses and locals adorned with traditional costumes. Everyone turns out to enjoy this exciting event with town bands and cultural associations joining in to take part in the festivities. Visitors also enjoy a tasty variety of traditional Ladin dishes and a lovely farmer’s market to peruse. As it is every year, this is an event not to be missed!
