Emma loves hiking but can't decide whether peak hikes or loop hikes win. "Summit routes give you the feeling of being above everything. But loop hikes are special too, with landscapes that shift constantly and new angles on the mountain revealing themselves at every turn." So naturally, her favorite route combines both: the peak and loop of Peitlerkofel, the mountain she grew up beside. When it comes to the local hearty food, she's equally happy with traditional South Tyrolean Schlutzkrapfen, the classic Italian lasagne, and, honestly, any form of pasta.

Beyond the Dolomites, Emma has a particular weakness for islands and the sense of freedom they offer. Especially Cape Verde, the Faroe Islands, and Madeira because she also enjoys a good strong breeze. She's also bikepacked through New Zealand, eating its famous pies, explored Morocco's culture, and skied in Aspen, Colorado. Next up: Montenegro. She's been told the sea is amazing. Also Albania, a part of Europe she hasn't yet discovered. Back in Val Badia, you'll find her out on the trails or the bike, piecing together a jigsaw puzzle, or somewhere with good coffee and good company.
